Witches, 2018
To meet the challenge of a socio-cultural portrait assignment, I explore archaean notions of witchcraft prevalent through portraits of young women present-day. These women present simultaneous power and vulnerability when in conflict with spiritual summonings. The ekphrastic poems and photography engage in the liminal space between text and image.
Through this work I have learned lighting and compositional skills used to manipulate visual aesthetics and verisimilitude.
