Erin Wakeland is a multifaceted creative based in Detroit.

Wakeland crafts beautiful worlds through painting, paper mache, textiles, and jewelry-- and draws inspiration from a combination of the natural world and the trinkets and treasures she finds at the thrift store. Erin embraces her many interests, which has shaped her art practice to be boundless and yet centered on handcraft and beauty.

After studying painting and fibers during her BFA degree at the University of Michigan, Erin won The BIG IDEA award to start a big project. she bought an abandoned home in Detroit to renovate into an artists’ residency + event space.
