Half Earth, 2019
6.5 x 4 ft oil paint, resin, spray paint, vine pigment, tape on canvas
I explore computer-generated mutations of naturalistic images. I am curious about what digital processes look like when done analog. Using photoshop, I rendered an image of the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and projected the resulting image to paint on canvas. Layers of the naturalistic abstraction and multiple renderings accumulated throughout the semester. These explorations allude to greater comparisons between the labor of human/natural and industrial/machine processes.
